JNAC Authorities Continue Drive Against Unauthorized Construction in Sakchi
Third Day of JNAC’s Anti-Deviation Campaign Seals Floors, Demolishes Shops
The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) continued its campaign against map deviations in Sakchi, following a High Court directive, for the third consecutive day.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has been diligently carrying out its drive against map deviations in Sakchi, as per the High Court directive, for the third consecutive day.
The operation involved sealing off the fifth floor of a building in SNP Area, Sakchi, and demolishing the shops that were built in the basement.
On Friday, the campaign continued due to some unfinished work from Thursday. Police personnel, SDO Parul Singh, Jamshedpur CO, JNAC Special Officer Mukesh Kumar, and engineers MK Pradhan and Sanjay Singh were present to handle any expected protests.
Even though there were difficulties in reaching the basement, the workers were there to lend a hand in demolishing the shops.
Protests erupted among building owners when they discovered that the under-construction fifth floor of a building was slated for demolition. They expressed frustration at not being given any prior notice about the decision.
Officials have clarified that there were some discrepancies between the construction and the approved plans, which required immediate intervention.
Officials from JNAC made it clear that although parking arrangements were required for shops and godowns in the basement, any construction beyond the approved limits was not allowed.
Due to the situation, the construction on the fifth floor was closed off, and with the help of Jusco, steps were taken to dismantle the segment that was still under construction.
The shops in the basement are also set to be demolished.
Similar actions were carried out against establishments in Chandra Center and Shatabdi Tower, among others. In these cases, shops and godowns located in the basement were demolished with the help of labor.
The hearing for the case regarding map deviations in the JNAC area is scheduled for June 13. The Dhalbhum SDO is expected to submit a response prior to the hearing.
The SDO’s continuous inspections serve as a reminder of the ongoing commitment to ensuring compliance with building regulations in the region.
