Tata Steel to organise a 17-day Sports Summer Camp at the JRD Tata Sports Complex

Keeping summer vacations for schools in mind, the Summer Camp is expected to attract good participation. Registrations will open for children in the age group of 6 years to 19 years

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel Sports Division is all set to organise Summer Camp 2022 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex from May 15 to May 31, 2022.

The objective of the Camp is to create awareness about fitness, wellness and instil a healthy lifestyle among the children. Children in the age group of 6 years to 19 years can participate in sporting activities across 20 disciplines such as Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Football, Golf, Handball, Horse Riding, Karate, Kabaddi, Roller Skate/Roll Ball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball.

Yoga and Zumba is open for all age groups, besides children.

Summer Camp Details:

Camp Timings:

  • From 06.00 am to 08.00 am for disciplines other than Badminton & Swimming
  • Swimming – from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm
  • Badminton- from 06.00 am – 10.00 am
  • Parents can also register for Yoga and Zumba classes.
  • Registrations open from May 2, 2022 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.
  • Registration Timings: Monday to Friday between 09:30 am to 01:00 pm and 02.30 pm to 05.30 pm; Saturday between 09.30 am – 01.00 pm at the JRD Tata Sports Complex
  • The last date to register is May 10, 2022.

Coaches:

  1. Experienced coaches will impart training and will be assisted by senior players.
  2. Coaches from Sports Authority of India (SAI) will be imparting training for Boxing and Athletics.
  3. Anand Menezes (Olympian), Saroj Lakra (International Athlete), Sanjeev Kumar (NIS Certified), Ajit Kumar Singh (NIS Certified) Coaches will also coach the participants.
  4. Former Ranji players have been invited to train the budding cricketers.
  5. Purnima Mahato, Dronacharya Awardee and coach of the Indian national team, will give special tips to Archers.

Other arrangements at the Summer Camp:

  1. Parking will be available in front of Keenan Stadium and Convent School.
  2. Daily announcements will be done on the importance of using helmets, seat belts, careful driving, use of zebra crossings and walking on marked pathways.
  3. First aid experts will be deputed for taking care of minor injuries at 4 places – JRD Tata Sports Complex, Swimming Pool, Keenan Stadium & Armoury Ground.
  4. All COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed throughout the event.
