Tata Steel’s 100th Cataract Camp in Jharkhand

Tata Steel Foundation completes 100 cataract surgery camps, aiding thousands in Jharkhand

The Tata Steel Foundation, in collaboration with Sankara Nethralaya, marks a significant milestone with 100 cataract surgical camps across Jharkhand.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel Foundation’s initiative in partnership with Sankara Nethralaya culminates its 100th cataract surgery camp in Noamundi.

This effort is part of a comprehensive drive that started in September 2016.

MESU, a pioneering mobile eye surgery unit, has reached over 44,656 people for screening.

Over 11,197 successful cataract surgeries have been performed under this initiative.

The project highlights the provision of critical eye care in remote and underserved areas.

Tata Steel Foundation plans to extend this successful model to other needy regions.

Sourav Roy emphasized the combined efforts of healthcare workers and partners in this achievement.

The initiative was sparked by the evident need for accessible eye care during earlier camps.

MESU’s innovation ensures safe and efficient surgeries with minimal post-operative complications.

Concluding the 100th camp underscores TSF’s commitment to enhancing rural healthcare accessibility.
