Youth Identified as Sanjay Mahto of Bhalubasa Succumbs to Injuries

GAMHARIA – A 35-year-old motorcyclist died on Tuesday after a speeding vehicle struck him near Bandadih Chowk within Saraikela police station limits. The victim was identified as Sanjay Mahto, a resident of Bhalubasa.
Mahto had left home around 11 am and was headed toward Gamharia when the accident occurred. Police said a speeding pickup van hit him near the chowk before fleeing the scene.
Saraikela police reached the spot after receiving information about the crash. Officers then took Mahto to the Sadar Hospital, where doctors examined him and declared him dead.
According to police, the impact had badly crushed part of Mahto’s head. His arm was also broken in the collision. He succumbed to the severity of his injuries.
Police have taken custody of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The driver of the vehicle remains unidentified, and efforts are underway to trace the pickup van involved in the crash.
Hit-and-run cases have been reported elsewhere in the Jamshedpur region in recent weeks, including one where a biker was killed in Pardih and police struggled to identify the victim. In a separate case, a road mishap in Chandil left one brother dead and another critical. Elsewhere, a speeding trailer killed a labourer in Rajnagar, and a truck ran over a pedestrian in Potka, prompting a road blockade. Authorities in the district have also flagged poor road conditions as a factor behind rising accident risk this monsoon season.
