HAZARIBAGH – Police arrested the accused within twenty-four hours of a shooting targeting a retired teacher in Padma police station area.

The victim, retired teacher Ramjay Kumar Mahato, was shot by the accused. Following the incident, panic quickly spread across the surrounding locality.

Police took the matter seriously and swiftly formed a special team. Officers began raids to track down the accused soon after the shooting.

Meanwhile, investigators examined the crime scene and gathered evidence linked to the case. They also conducted repeated raids at the accused’s possible hideouts.

As a result, police apprehended the accused, identified as Krishna Mahto. His swift arrest is being credited to the promptness of the police team.

The arrest within twenty-four hours is being seen as a major success for the department. Officers are currently questioning the accused in custody.

Investigators are working to establish the motive behind the shooting. Superintendent of Police Aman Kumar confirmed the arrest and the ongoing investigation.

According to police, further legal action in the case is being carried out. Officers said the probe into the circumstances surrounding the attack continues.

The swift arrest adds to a series of recent policing successes reported across Jharkhand. Hazaribagh police have also acted against other crimes recently, including a network busted in an opium network raid. Elsewhere in the district, police also probed a case involving Danua Valley accident deaths this week. Separately, a train collision was reported when the Vande Bharat collision occurred at a level crossing in the district.
