Students protest anomalies in JAC Board results, demand correction

Jamshedpur: Alleging large-scale anomalies in the recently declared JAC Board examination results, a large number of students today launched a protest and raised slogans against the education department and the education minister. They also locked the office of the education department and said that they would continue their protest if the anomalies in the results are not removed.

The students said that if fresh examination is held, it should be held for everyone otherwise all students should be declared passed.

The DEO said that he has asked the students to give a written submission and he would forward their submission to JAC.

He said that any decision would have to be taken by JAC taking into account all facts.

Meanwhile, ABVP and social worker Chandan Yadav too have supported the students’ protests and have justified their demands. ABVP has said that the education department office was locked because the department officials did not respond even after 48 hours of ultimatum to correct the results.

Chandan Yadav took a delegation of students to the DEO S D Tigga and held a discussion to sort out the issue.

However, the initiative failed to yield any result.

Later, Chandan Yadav too joined the students in shouting slogans against the education department. The students sat on the floor of the education department and were shouting slogans.

ABVP students alleged that JAC is trying to spoil the future of students. They shouted slogans against JAC president Arvind Kumar and education minister Jagarnath Mahato.

They also gheraoed the DEO for about 3 hours.

Chandan Yadav said that the education department is playing with the children. The future of the children is in the dark due to the anomalous marking by the JAC board.

He warned that if the education department plays with the future of the youth, then in the coming days the students will be forced to launch massive agitation.

Later, the agitated students led by Chandan Yadav also blocked the road for some time.

However, at the behest of the administration, the road block was removed.

Bistupur police station in-charge, Sakchi police station in-charge, Dy SP Animesh Gupta along with a posse of policemen reached in the site of protest and tried to pacify the students.

Education Department DEO S D Tigga said that the Education Department cannot do anything in this matter. He said that the students should submit a memorandum and whatever decision is taken would be conveyed to the students.

A student said that fresh examinations should be held for everyone. She said that if the department does not address this issue, then the students would continue their protests.
