JAMSHEDPUR – A 26-year-old man was brutally murdered in Sirkatola Baridih on Sunday morning following a land dispute that turned violent.
According to reports, the victim, Jagdish Hembram, was attacked when his wife had gone to collect firewood. However, a quarrel between two groups quickly escalated into a violent clash. The attackers allegedly used a sword, sticks, and an axe to assault him. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Meanwhile, police rushed to the scene and sent the body for postmortem. Investigations revealed that the conflict was over 16 bighas of disputed land, which had been a source of tension for years.
The police have named Rupbudhu Hembram, Konda Hembram, Badal Hembram, Sanatan Hembram, and Sarkar Hembram as the prime suspects. Besides, intensive raids are being carried out across several locations to apprehend them.
In addition, villagers expressed strong outrage over the killing. Many demanded strict action against the culprits and held demonstrations to press their demands. “The community will not tolerate such crimes anymore,” a local resident said.
Furthermore, police teams are collecting evidence from the site and questioning the victim’s family to uncover more details. The investigation into the brutal killing is ongoing.
