Ex-driver of minister arrested in sexual abuse case, sent to jail

Jamshedpur: Kadma police have arrested one P Kumar Singh alias M Singh in a case of sexual abuse of a woman on false promises of marriage. He was interrogated and sent to jail.

An FIR was lodged against the accused on the orders of the court at Kadma police station on June 14 last.

The accused is the former driver of a state minister. He was removed from his services as a driver of the minister since after the allegations against him came to light.

The Dy SP of Headquarters 2, Kamal Kishore, was investigating the case registered against him. Action was taken against the accused after one month of investigation.

Before the arrest, the accused was allegedly calling the woman on her mobile and threatening her to withdraw the case. She was also allegedly being given offers of money in lieu of this.

The woman had complained to the City SP about this.

The victim woman had also approached the SSP office seeking justice.

Unable to meet the SSP, she had handed over a written submission pleading for justice.

She had stated that she had no other option but to commit suicide along with two minor daughters if justice was not meted to her.

The statement of the woman under 164 was also recorded by the police in the court on June 19.

A copy of the letter has been sent to the Governor of Jharkhand, the Director General of Police, the National Human Rights Commission and the Scheduled Tribes Commission.

The woman has levelled some serious allegations against the accused.

The accused originally hails from Bihar.

He was removed from the post of minister’s driver after a complaint was lodged against him related to sexual abuse, abortion, threatening, blackmailing, extortion of seven lakh rupees and an FIR was lodged in connection with this at Kadma police station.

The accused has houses in Mango and Kadma Bhatia Basti.

The victim woman too is married. She has two daughters.

Owing to domestic quarrels, she had started living separately from her husband.

Some time back, she got in touch with P Singh. They allegedly developed close relations.

The accused allegedly told the woman that if she divorces her husband, he will marry her.

She claimed that she fell for his false promises of marriage, while the accused continued to sexually exploit her since 2012.

She also had an abortion.

She said that seven lakh rupees were also taken from her and her brother.

Meanwhile, the woman got a divorce from her ex-husband too.

After this, she claimed, when she asked the accused to marry her, he refused.
