Banna Gupta flays centre for replacing Governor, BJP retorts with counter

Jamshedpur: The State Health Minister Banna Gupta has flayed the BJP-led union government for replacing the sitting Governor Draupadi Murmu and anointing Ramesh Bais as the new Governor of Jharkhand.

In his remark, Mr. Gupta said: “The Governor Mrs. Draupadi Murmu is a gentle and sensitive Governor and replacing her shows the anti-Adivasi and anti-Woman mentality of the union government. Having an Adivasi and woman Governor was a matter of pride for Jharkhand. What was the justification for replacing her?

State Health Minister Banna Gupta’s remarks on the replacement of Governor created a lot of ripples in the political circles.

While BJP supporters were busy raising several questions on the his tweet itself, BJP also fielded its State Spokesman Kunal Sarangi for replying to his charges against the union government.

The State BJP Spokesman Kunal Sarangi dismissed Banna Gupta’s charges that the union government was anti-tribal and anti-women as outrageously ridiculous.

In a statement released on Tuesday, he said that the appointment of the Governor is not a political appointment.

He said that the appointments are decided on the basis of many criteria and after looking at many factors.

Questioning the JMM-Congress alliance of the state, he said that the role of the Governor in the appointment of TAC was deliberately terminated by the Congress-JMM coalition government.

First of all, he asked, the government should explain why the Governor’s role in TAC was done away with.

He said that the state government also did away with the provision of appointments done by the Governor’s House.

He said that as far as the interests of the tribals are concerned, the Central Government has given the tribal welfare ministry in the hands of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda to protect the interests of the tribals of the entire country.

Mr. Kunal Sarangi advised the Jharkhand government to not indulge in cheap politics over Governor’s appointment.

He advised the government to try to work for the people of Jharkhand.

He said that if the state government works in coordination with the new Governor Ramesh Bais this would bring development of the state and the people would surely applause the government.
