IMA doctors protest attacks on healthcare professionals, demand better security

Jamshedpur: Responding to the call of Indian Medical Association, all the doctors associated with IMA today demonstrated against frequent assault on and misbehaviour with the healthcare professionals in different parts of the country.

In the biggest hospital of Kolhan MGMCH too the doctors held a demonstration and lodged their protest.

The protesting doctors said that there should be a ‘One Nation, One Law’ protection for doctors all over the country.

They said that it is unfortunate that the doctors who take up cases of serious patients and try hard to save them are, in turn, blamed if the patient dies.

IMA protests attack on doctors, demands better security, national law for protection.

The doctors said that when a fire breaks out in a building, a fire fighter is not held responsible. If someone drowns in a river and the body is not located, the diver is not held responsible. However, if a serious patient dies, the family members hold the doctors responsible and even assault them.

They urged the prime minister Narendra Modi to include this issue of doctors’ safety in his Mann ki baat program too.

The protesting doctors also demanded security and protection for the doctors to ensure that they can work without any fear.
