IMA to hold nationwide demonstration on June 18 to protest attack on doctors

Jamshedpur: Following the guidelines of the Indian Medical Association, Central Unit, the Indian Medical Association’s Jamshedpur chapter too will join the nationwide protest against the attack on doctors on June 18. As a mark of protest all the IMA members will work by wearing a black badge.

The Jamshedpur unit of IMA held a press conference Wednesday evening.

Addressing the press conference, the IMA President Dr. Umesh Khan and Dr. Mrityunjay Singh said that doctors are being attacked in different parts of the country. This has made it difficult for them to treat people.

They said that to protest the attacks and assault on doctors, a nationwide Protection Day will be observed by the member doctors across the country on June 18.

They said that IMA has urged the central government to implement a national protection law for healthcare professionals.

They said that the doctors will work as per the instructions of the Central unit of IMA.

They said that the doctors may also decide to not work on June 18, from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon as a mark of protest.

Dr. Umesh Khan, Dr. Mrityunjay Singh, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Saurabh Chaudhary and Dr. Santosh Gupta were present in the press meet.
