Stolen new-born baby recovered in Chatra, accused arrested

Ranchi: In a sensational news coming from Chatra, a new-born baby was stolen from Chatra Sadar Hospital Saturday early morning. However, the family members took initiative in tracing the missing baby and after scouring for some time found the baby near Chatra Post Office Chowk from the possession of a woman.

The family members nabbed the woman with the baby and then handed her over to the police.

During interrogation the accused woman told the police that her name is A Khatoon and she hails from Kalyanpur village under the jurisdiction of Itkhori police station.

According to information received here, Rajani Devi of Murpa, Latehar had delivered a child on June 1 at Sadar Hospital. She was being looked after by her mother and her brother Rakesh Ranjan.

According to family members, Rajani’s mother went to washroom on Saturday morning for some time. Meanwhile, the accused woman allegedly stole the newborn baby and managed to escape from the hospital.

The newborn baby is now with the family.
