JMM workers pay rich tributes to Baba Tilka Manjhi on his birth anniversary
Jamshedpur: JMM workers and supporters paid rich tributes to Baba Tilka Manjhi on his birth anniversary on Thursday at Baba Tilka Manjhi Chowk near Khakripara Panchayat in Govindpur.
A bust of Baba Tilka Manjhi was garlanded by JMM workers and other citizens on the occasion.
Baba Tilka Manjhi was a freedom fighter who is also considered as the first person who laid down his life by taking up arms against the Britishers in 1784, some 100 years before Mangal Pandey.
JMM Block President Bahadur Kisku and JMM youth leader Baldev Bhuyan were also present on the occasion.
Everyone offered floral tributes to the martyr. JMM Jamshedpur Block President Bahadur Kisku said that Baba Tilka Manjhi was the first freedom fighter to be martyred in the freedom struggle as per historical records.
He said that Baba Tilak Manjhi raised his voice against the atrocities of the British rule. He also fought a long battle against the British Raj.
He said that the name of the brave martyr Baba Tilka Manjhi will remain a source of inspiration for the people of Jharkhand.
He said that the first martyr always fought for the protection of the forest, forest and land.
JMM youth leader Baldev Bhuiyan said that it is a matter of pride for all residents of Jharkhand that our land has produced martyrs and leaders like Baba Tilka Manjhi and Sidhu Kanu.
Those who were present on the occasion included Baldev Bhuiyan, Bahadur Kisku, Naran Soren, Jakta Soren, Shekhar Tudu, Nizam Khan, Budharam Hembram Sanatan Mahto, Ramchandra Soren Lakshman Munda, Shashi Lohra, Dheren Murdy, Bablu Marandi, Dhakhin Hembram, Dukh Ram Murmu, Devanand Singh during the program Ashok Thakur, Pankaj Kumar, Phani Gop, Chhote Manjhi, Shuru Tudu, Laltu Sinha, Mukaddar, Indu Hasada, Shalu, Baha Hansda, Priyanka Hansda and several other activists of JMM.
