Tata Steel Digie-Shala scripts success stories

Jamshedpur: Five students of Tata Steel Capability Development received placements in Tata Pigments at Jamshedpur recently, adding another feather in its cap.

Of the 5 students, 3 were top performers from various centres of J N Tata Vocational Training Institute (JNTVTI) and 2 others from the Junior Engineer Trainee (JET) supply pool. JNTVTI is a public charitable trust set up in 2015 and acts as an independent institute that aims to bridge the demand-supply gap for skilled manpower. There are currently five JNTVTI centres in the country mentored by Tata Steel.

The students who achieved placement are Supratik Dey (Civil Supervisor), Ashok Kumar Mahato (Instrumentation), Ashwani Kumar Mishra (Mechanical Engineering), Israrul Haque (Chemical Engineering) and Himanshu Sharma (Chemical Engineering).

“I completed a six-month short-term Site Safety Supervisor course from JNTVTI in Jamshedpur. I am proud to be associated with JNTVTI as the institute imparted a blended learning approach with class-room training, field training with professional experts and on-the-job training to enhance skills and provide industry exposure. I am grateful for the placement opportunity to get selected in Tata Pigments in the Mechanical Maintenance department,” said Ashwani Kumar Mishra.

Capability Development, a century-old learning and development wing of Tata Steel, has a vision to see Tata Steel become a pioneer in transforming the education landscape – a model for continuous, lifelong learning to meet the needs of tomorrow’s world. Notably, Capability Development recently launched Tata Steel Digie-Shala to transform this vision into reality. The brand thrives on a three-pronged approach, namely, Assessment, Training and Recruitment, acting as a comprehensive competency assessment agency, providing training and recruitment services in the process industry domain. Digie-Shala has a huge repository of eligible youth, in which JNTVTI is a major contributor in the supply pool.

This repository helps to quickly fill the gap between demand and supply of skilled manpower.
