Material supplier shot dead in Adityapur S type, shooter escapes

Angry locals block Tata-Kandra Road, blockade lifted after police assurance of action

Jamshedpur: In a major and shocking crime, an unidentified person shot dead a building material supplier, Sujoy Nandi, at S Type Chowk in Adityapur Wednesday morning.

According to police, Sujoy Nandi was sitting near his house on a bike when an unidentified person reached near him, put his pistol at his head and shot him dead. Sujoy Nandi died on the spot.

The locals chased the shooter, but he managed to escape.

The deceased Sujoy Nandi was attacked even 3 years back. At that time, he survived the grievous attack. After being injured in that attack he was air-lifted for treatment in Medanta Hospital, Delhi.

Locals say that Sujoy Nandi has an old enmity with a criminal, who is presently in jail. His name had cropped up in that attack too.

The deceased Sujoy Nandi dealt in supply of building and construction material.

The murder of Sujoy Nandi caused quite a commotion in the entire area. Adityapur police too arrived at the site of occurrence soon and started investigating the crime.

The locals alleged that the police inaction has bolstered the morale of the criminals. Irate at the murder of Sujoy Nandi, a large number of locals blocked Adityapur-Kandra Road. This created a road snarl and traffic came to a standstill on that road. Long queues of vehicles were seen on both sides of the blockade.

The police accepted a memorandum on behalf of the family of the deceased and assured quick action against the perpetrators of the crime. On police assurance, the blockade was finally lifted.

Locals say that earlier Deepak Munda too was killed in the same manner. Deepak Munda too was having his tea on his Scorpio, when the miscreants approached him and shot him dead. Deepak Munda was attacked with bomb and was also shot dead. Sujoy Nandi was a witness in that case.

The accused of that murder case were sentenced to life and are now in jail.
