Bistupur police arrest second accused in Dhatkidih extortion case

Jamshedpur: The Bistupur police, acting on a tip-off, today arrested Subhan alias Shahrukh, who is an accused in an extortion case relating to a Dhatkidih Jewellery shop and have recovered a knife used by him during the extortion.

The CCR Dy SP Arvind Kumar said that a case was registered by the Bistupur police station on November 2 last that related to an extortion attempt. According to the police, two youths had entered the jewellery shop of one Pintu Agrawal at Dhatkidih on November 2 and had asked for rangdaari or extortion money by showing a knife.

One accused of the case had already been arrested by the police. But, the other accused Shahrukh was absconding.

The CCR Dy SP said that the police received a tip-off about his presence in Kapali. A raid was made and he was arrested. Later, on the basis of his statement a knife was also recovered by the police.

The CCR Dy SP said that he was accused in several other cases too.
