Tata Steel organises Safety Campaign on virtual platform

Jamshedpur: Closing ceremony of Fall from Height (FFH) and Slip-Trip-Fall (STF) safety campaigns was heldtoday on virtual platform. These safety campaigns were organised to identify and mitigate the hazards associated with working at height and STF at the workplace.

Mr Sudhansu Pathak, Vice President, Steel Making, Tata Steel  was the Chief Guest, while Mr R Rabi Prasad, President TWU (Tata Workers Union), was the Guest of Honour. Mr Sanjiv Paul, Vice President Safety, Health and Sustainability presided over as host of the ceremony. Chiefs and Heads of various Departments, employees, Office bearers of TWU, Union committee members of Apex Committees, safety professionals and vendor partners also joined the ceremony.

Mr V K Nirala, Chief Safety, in his welcome address, set the context and briefed about the accomplishments of these safety campaigns- FFH and STF. These campaigns witnessed enthusiastic participation on identification of hazards, safety observations, Fatality Risk Control Programmes (FRCP), identifying Commonly Accepted Unsafe Practices, focused line walks and large participation in online quizzes.

In his keynote address, Mr Sanjiv Paul, spoke about the new safety initiatives to ensure wellbeing of workforce and business continuity. He stressed on the need to increase the risk perception and its associated sensitivity which can help the company to achieve goal of “Zero Harm”.

In his address, Mr Rabi Prasad congratulated the winners of the various contests and said that challenges can be overcome by collective effort and resilience.

Mr Sudhansu Pathak emphasised on the need of sustained safety campaigns to carry forward the safety journey of Tata Steel. He reiterated that in Tata Steel, Safety is not a metric, but the core of its value system.

Earlier, safety films on Fall from Height and Slip-Trip-Fall were screened, depicting unsafe practices and correct- safe way of working. Also Prize winning Safety videos made by employees were screened.

During this campaign, many competitions were conducted. Prize winners in various categories were recognised and awarded. Some prominent winners were:
