Amid Corona crisis hundreds of Medica Hospital workers rendered jobless

Jobless workers demand payment of dues, warn of intense agitation

Jamshedpur: While the entire country is fighting coronavirus pandemic, a big hospital in the heart of the city has shut down and hundreds of workers engaged in providing outsourced services to the hospital have now been rendered jobless.

The abrupt closure of the hospital in the heart of the city is now ballooning into a big humanitarian crisis too as hundreds find themselves without a job or regular source of income.

The outsourced services workers are now demanding payment of dues under the head of gratuity, weekly leaves and bonus. They have been holding demonstrations and have warned that they will go on a huger strike if their dues are not paid.

Medica Hospital has completely shut down. The outsourced services workers had been issued notice for working till August 27, but the employees have been agitating against closure and non-payment of dues since July 17 itself.

Medica Hospital service providing workers are now warning of an intense agitation if their demands are not met.

The security supervisor Santosh Kumar Singh said that the management is only issuing assurances, but has not done anything concrete for the workers.

He said that the employees served the hospital dutifully, but now in this crisis period they have been cast off by the management and the management is not saying anything on their issue.
