JAMSHEDPUR – A gram sabha was reconvened under the leadership of the village head in Ghorabandha Shyamu Tola Khair Bani village of Jamshedpur.
During the meeting, it was unanimously decided that the villagers would not allow the proposed garbage plant to be constructed in their area.
Prior to the meeting, villagers had celebrated the Hero festival with great enthusiasm.
Both men and women from the village participated in the meeting held post-festival.
They collectively decided against the garbage plant that the district administration had planned to construct.
Speaking to the media, villagers recounted their long-standing protest against the garbage plant since its proposal in 2010.
In 2013, a gram sabha was organized under the then BDO Parul Singh, where the villagers had once again registered their disapproval.
Despite pressure, the villagers stood firm on their decision and stated that they would not allow the garbage plant’s construction under any circumstances.
