Bengaluru: US President Donald Trump has raised hopes of a ‘major therapeutic breakthrough’ by hinting that he will hold a press conference on August 23 to announce the same.

In a tweet made at 11.03 India Time on August 23, 2020, he said: “Important White House News Conference at 5.30 (Sharp) today. Very good news!”

The news conference would be held at 5.30 US time and it means it would be held at 2.30 a.m. morning of August 24, 2020 .

Earlier, the President was unhappy with FDA for delaying things and said: “The deep state, or whoever, over at the FDA is making it very difficult for drug companies to get people in order to test teh vaccines and therapeutics. Obviously, they are hoping to delay the answer until after November 3rd. Must focus on speed, and saving lives!”

Even the White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany confirmed that President Trump will hold a press conference on Sunday nights which would be attended by US Health chief Alex Azar and FDA Head Stephen Hahn.

Since after USSR President Putin announced that his country has already registered a vaccine for Covid-19, there has been pressure on US authorities to come out with a vaccine. US is slated for Presidential Elections too and the President is desperate to have a vaccine before the elections.

According to reports, the US president is unlikely to make any announcement about any vaccine, as he is not in a position to hustle through the elaborate trial process for any vaccine.

However, reports hint that he may make an announcement about an ointment. According to reports, a US Pharma company has indeed tested an over the counter ointment which acts as a line of defence against the virus. Reports say that with 30 seconds of ointment treatment, no virus was detected.

Reports say that the ointment may reduce the chances of getting infected with virus.

However, Donald Trump’s subtle hint of a breakthrough has sent hopes soaring throughout the world and everyone is waiting for the announcement with bated breath.
