Housekeeping contractor employees of TMH strike work demanding better pay, insurance

JAMSHEDPUR: The housekeeping contractor employees of Tata Main Hospital have gone on a strike demanding Rs. 15,000 per month as salary, a medical insurance of Rs. 10 lakh and medical insurance facility for family members too.

Tata Main Hospital also has a Covid-19 care centre and has cured hundreds of patients till date.

There are many who question the timing of the agitation by the housekeeping contractor employees of the hospital.

However, the housekeeping employees claim that they have been serving the patients despite great personal risks to them.

They said that contractors keep coming and going, but their compensation has seen no improvement. They said that their exploitation continues despite change of contractors.

They also made it clear that they will not return to work till their demands are met.

The strike is likely to cause a lot of difficulties for the patients and the hospital staff as housekeeping in the hospital is likely to come to a standstill.
