JAMSHEDPUR — Bike-borne gunmen fired multiple rounds at a youth identified as Vicky Singh Rajput near Uma Tiffin in the Ulidih OP area under Mango police station on Monday evening around 5:30, hitting him with three bullets, though he narrowly escaped death.

The victim was travelling in an Alto car at the time of the attack. The assailants, riding motorcycles, opened indiscriminate fire at the vehicle. In addition to the three bullet injuries sustained by Vicky, his car was also damaged in the incident.

The attack is believed to be linked to a dispute dating back three years. According to sources, Vicky had an altercation with a youth named Lalla, and the shooting incident is being connected to that earlier conflict.

Patamda DSP Vachandev Kujur rushed to the spot upon receiving information about the firing incident. He questioned the injured Vicky at the scene. Following the interrogation, Vicky was shifted to MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

The incident sent a wave of panic through the locality. Meanwhile, police have launched a hunt for the assailants. The shooting is the latest in a series of gun-related crimes reported in Jamshedpur in recent weeks.
