JAMSHEDPUR — Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi chaired a review meeting on Tuesday to ensure that the Ram Navami festival is conducted in a peaceful and harmonious manner across the district.

All concerned departments were directed to work in close coordination. They were also instructed to ensure that devotees receive adequate civic amenities throughout the festival.

The DC placed particular emphasis on strengthening law and order arrangements. In addition, he stressed the need for robust arrangements for drinking water, electricity, sanitation, lighting, health services and emergency response.

Instructions were issued for the verification of procession routes and immersion ghats. Special surveillance has been ordered for sensitive areas. Drone cameras and CCTV systems will be deployed to monitor crowd movement and maintain vigil across key locations.

Measures for effective crowd control have also been directed. The administration has been asked to keep ambulances and fire brigade vehicles on standby throughout the festival period.

Alternative traffic routes are to be identified and kept ready. A control room will remain active to coordinate responses to any untoward situation, ensuring that the festival concludes safely and in an orderly manner.

Ram Navami is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in Jamshedpur, with large processions passing through localities including Sakchi, Bistupur, and Kadma. The festival has historically seen massive participation across the city. Authorities have in the past deployed heavy police presence along Sonari and Telco routes as well.

Last year, similar district administration reviews were held ahead of major public events in the city to preempt any breakdown of law and order.
