RANCHI – Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Sahu questioned the Jharkhand government in the Assembly over delays in conducting the JTET examination despite a court deadline.

The issue was raised during the short-notice question hour in the Assembly. MLA Purnima Sahu demanded clarification from the government.

Meanwhile, the government admitted that the JTET examination has not occurred since 2016. The admission came in response to the MLA’s question.

Moreover, the legislator asked about an affidavit submitted before the High Court. The affidavit mentioned holding the examination by March 31, 2026.

The government confirmed the statement in its reply. The commitment was linked to case WP(S) No. 5355/2025.

Meanwhile, the case involves Harikesh Mahto and others versus the state government. The High Court ordered the exam before March 31, 2026.

However, the MLA raised concerns about incomplete preparations. She pointed out that the rules for the examination remain unapproved.

The government said the draft rules are ready. Approval from the competent authority is still under process.

She further accused authorities of ignoring the High Court’s order. She said the delay harms the future of Jharkhand’s youth.
