OBC Forum Demands Local Committee for Caste Certificate Verification

Bhartiya OBC Vichar Manch Protests Khatiyan Requirement at Sakchi

Key Points:

  • OBC forum holds assembly at Sakchi roundabout demanding simplified certificate process
  • Members seek local inquiry committee formation for caste certificate verification
  • Group to submit memorandum to chief minister addressing documentation concerns

JAMSHEDPUR – Bhartiya OBC Vichar Manch organized a public assembly at Sakchi roundabout on Monday.

The gathering focused on difficulties faced during caste certificate applications. Members unanimously agreed to present their demands before the state chief minister. Moreover, the forum prepared a comprehensive memorandum for submission.

Speakers highlighted the increased complexity in certificate procurement processes. The mandatory khatiyan requirement creates significant obstacles for applicants. However, the earlier system operated without such stringent documentation demands.

“OBC community members face particular hardships under current regulations,” a forum member stated. The documentation requirements burden ordinary citizens disproportionately. Furthermore, the process delays essential certificate issuance unnecessarily.

The forum demanded establishment of local-level investigation committees. These bodies should verify caste claims through community-based inquiries. Additionally, certificates should be issued based on localized verification procedures.

Members emphasized that ground-level investigations would expedite the process. Local committees possess better knowledge of community structures and relationships. In addition, such systems would reduce bureaucratic delays significantly.

The organization prepared a formal demand letter for state authorities. The document outlines specific procedural changes required for reform. Meanwhile, the memorandum will reach the chief minister’s office shortly.

Large numbers of forum members attended the Sakchi gathering demonstrating solidarity. They collectively voiced concerns about documentation barriers. Furthermore, participants displayed unified support for proposed reforms.

OBC communities have raised similar concerns across Jharkhand previously. Leaders have accused the government of neglecting OBC interests. The RJD has demanded OBC reservations in municipal positions. MPs have pushed for caste inclusions in central lists. BJP OBC Morcha has expanded membership recently.
