Tata Steel Cadets Win 32 Medals at State TT Championship

Training centre students secure 9 gold, 6 silver and 17 bronze medals in Ranchi

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel Table Tennis Training Centre cadets won 32 medals at Jharkhand State Championship.

The students represented East Singbhum district in the tournament. They bagged nine gold medals during the championship. Moreover, six silver medals were secured by the cadets.

Seventeen bronze medals were also won by the students. The championship was held at Ranchi Khelgaon National Games Sports Complex. However, the event took place from December 14 to 17.

Chief Sports Mukul Vinayak Chaudhari interacted with winners. He congratulated the medal-winning students during the meeting. Furthermore, he wished them success in future tournaments.

O P Mishra attended the interaction as patron. He represents East Singbhum District Table Tennis Association. Besides, Dinesh Rakshit was present at the event.

Rakshit serves as senior state player and coach. Manager sports also joined the interaction session. In addition, Sports Department of Tata Steel provided all-out support.

The training centre surpassed last year’s medal tally. Last year’s total stood at 61 medals across tournaments. Moreover, the yearly target was set at 70 medals.

The centre secured 77 medals this year overall. State Ranking tournaments contributed to this year’s tally. However, the performance exceeded expectations significantly.

The training centre has consistently produced championship performers. Inter-divisional tournaments are regularly organized by the company. Moreover, table tennis events promote sports culture among employees. The senior citizens tournament expanded participation across age groups.
