Three-Day Tournament Features 135 Players From 17 Company Units At JRD Complex

JAMSHEDPUR – General Office team emerged victorious in Tata Steel’s Inter Divisional Table Tennis Tournament held from June 30 to July 2.

The championship took place at Table Tennis Training Centre within JRD Tata Sports Complex. However, the event witnessed participation from 135 players representing 17 different company units. Moreover, the tournament featured 113 male and 22 female participants.

Chief Guest Pravesh Narang, Chief GSP & One Supply Chain attended the closing ceremony. Meanwhile, Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief Sports, and Vibhuti Adesara, Head Events & Training Centres were present. Besides, they distributed awards to winning participants.

General Office demonstrated superior skills throughout the three-day competition. However, TM, GSP & One Supply Chain secured runner-up position in team events. Furthermore, West Bokaro claimed second runner-up spot in overall standings.

The tournament introduced women’s individual events for the first time. Moreover, S. Vasanta from General Office won the inaugural women’s singles title. Meanwhile, Akshita Patel from West Bokaro finished as runner-up.

In addition, Deepa Kumari Mishra from General Office secured second runner-up position. However, this marked a historic milestone for women’s participation in company sports. Furthermore, the inclusion reflects Tata Steel’s commitment to gender equality.

Dinesh Rakshit from General Office dominated men’s individual competition. Besides, he defeated strong competition to claim the championship title. Meanwhile, Pravesh Narang from GSP & One Supply Chain finished runner-up.

On the other hand, Mayank Thakur from General Office secured second runner-up position. However, General Office’s dominance across categories showcased their sporting excellence. Moreover, their players excelled in both team and individual formats.

Technical officials ensured fair competition throughout the tournament. Meanwhile, Ujjal Chatterjee, L N Mitra, and Vaibhav Sharma supervised matches. Besides, Karan Raj and Prathamvir Bhamra maintained high officiating standards.

The championship highlighted Tata Steel’s emphasis on employee wellness and sports culture. Furthermore, it provided platform for inter-departmental competition and skill development. However, the event strengthened bonds among different company divisions.
