Tata Steel to Host Table Tennis Tourney for Senior Citizens

Senior Citizen Fun & Fitness League: Tata Steel’s Table Tennis Event

Tata Steel Sports Department announces a Table Tennis tournament for senior citizens at JRD Tata Sports Complex, promoting physical and social well-being.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel Sports Department is set to organize a Table Tennis competition for senior citizens on November 25 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.

This event is part of the ongoing Senior Citizen Fun & Fitness league series, a Tata Steel Sports Department initiative to promote active aging and camaraderie among seniors.

Registration for the tournament, featuring Singles and Doubles events in both Men and Women categories, is open until November 24, with no entry fee required.

Participants aged 55 and above are eligible to compete, with prizes awarded to the top three position holders in each category.

The Tata Steel Sports Department previously hosted a badminton league and a yoga session for senior citizens, underlining its commitment to fostering physical activity and social engagement in this age group.

Launched in October, the Senior Citizens Fun & Fitness League is a six-month event featuring various sports, designed to create a vibrant sporting culture within the community.

This initiative highlights the importance of senior citizens in society and encourages their participation in sporting activities.

Active aging through sports is crucial for maintaining physical fitness, mental health, and social connections in seniors.

Regular physical activity helps maintain mobility, balance, and flexibility, reducing the risk of falls and injuries.

Participating in sports also offers social benefits, helping seniors build new friendships and combat loneliness and isolation.

The tentative calendar for upcoming events includes Golf Putting, Walkathon, and Carom, with Tata Steel ensuring the well-being of all participants and officials during these events.
