Abhinansu Borthakur Emerges Victorious at Tata Steel AITA Men's National Ranking Tennis Tournament 2024

Ritabrata Sarkar concedes finals due to lower back discomfort, Sarthak Suden & Sarkar clinch doubles title

Bengal’s Abhinansu Borthakur clinched the Men’s Singles title at the recently concluded Tata Steel AITA Men’s National Ranking Tennis Tournament 2024, held at the synthetic courts of the JRD TATA Sports Complex. The thrilling finals saw Borthakur, seeded 3rd, face off against 2nd seeded Ritabrata Sarkar in a closely contested match.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Tata Steel AITA Men’s National Ranking Tennis Tournament 2024 concluded with Bengal’s Abhinansu Borthakur emerging as the champion in the Men’s Singles category.

The tournament, held at the state-of-the-art synthetic courts of the JRD TATA Sports Complex, witnessed intense competition and exceptional displays of tennis prowess.

In the finals, Borthakur, seeded 3rd, and Sarkar, seeded 2nd, showcased their skills and determination as they held their serves until the score reached 6-6, forcing the set into a tiebreaker.

During the tiebreaker, Sarkar found himself trailing 3-6, just a point away from losing the set, when he unexpectedly conceded the match, citing discomfort in his lower back.

As a result, Borthakur claimed the coveted title and earned 20 valuable national ranking points, solidifying his position in the tennis circuit.

Prior to the singles finals, the Men’s Doubles title was secured by the formidable duo of Sarthak Suden from Delhi and Ritabrata Sarkar.

They outclassed the pair of Abhinansu Borthakur and Vilasier Khate from Nagaland in a straight-sets victory, winning 7-5, 7-6(4) in the finals.

The Tata Steel AITA Men’s National Ranking Tennis Tournament 2024 served as a platform for talented players from across the nation to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level.
