RJD Demands OBC Reservation for Mango Mayor Post

Party Submits Memorandum to State Government Through DC

Key Points:

  • RJD seeks OBC reservation for upcoming mayoral elections
  • Memorandum submitted to state government via district collector
  • Party cites demographic composition of Mango municipal area

JAMSHEDPUR – Rashtriya Janata Dal has demanded Other Backward Class reservation for the mayor position in Mango municipal corporation elections.

Political activities have intensified regarding upcoming municipal elections. The RJD district unit approached state authorities with specific demands. Moreover, they submitted a formal memorandum through proper channels.

However, the party highlighted demographic realities of Mango area. OBC communities constitute majority population in this region. Besides, backward and extremely backward classes dominate local settlements.

The district president emphasized community representation needs. “Only OBC representatives can understand ground realities effectively,” he stated. Furthermore, such leaders can voice community concerns more appropriately.

Meanwhile, RJD officials stress social justice principles behind their demand. They argue that demographic composition justifies reserved representation. In addition, local governance requires community-specific understanding of issues.

On the other hand, the memorandum reached state government offices. District Collector Karn Satyarthi received the formal submission. Additionally, authorities will forward recommendations to appropriate departments.

Moreover, Mango municipal corporation covers diverse settlements across Jamshedpur. The area includes significant OBC population concentrations. Nevertheless, current representation patterns don’t reflect demographic realities.

Furthermore, political parties are preparing for electoral campaigns intensively. RJD emphasizes social justice agenda in their approach. In contrast, other parties haven’t announced similar position statements.

The party argues that empowering local communities requires appropriate representation. Besides demographic considerations, they highlight governance effectiveness factors. However, final decisions rest with state election authorities.

Additionally, Jharkhand follows constitutional reservation guidelines for municipal elections. State government considers various factors before announcing seat categorizations. Meanwhile, political parties continue lobbying for favorable outcomes.
