Saryu Roy Accuses Road Engineers of Biased Role in Bridge Event

Jamshedpur West MLA Objects to Officials’ Participation in Political Function at Littipara Project

Key Points:

  • Engineers attend bridge restart event with Jamshedpur East MLA
  • Work had resumed after design corrections, not fresh start
  • Roy to formally lodge complaint with government over conduct

JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy criticized road department engineers Wednesday. He accused them of partisan behavior. They attended a bridge construction restart ceremony.

Roy was touring Godda district with assembly committee. Social media reports reached him about the event. Engineers had gathered at Littipara Chowk location. Jamshedpur East MLA attended the function.

The project involves Swarnrekha River bridge construction. It connects Littipara to NH-33 Bhilai Hill. Chief Minister had launched it online earlier. Roy had participated in that ceremony.

Engineers portrayed work as fresh beginning Wednesday. However, construction had never fully stopped. A design flaw emerged during initial work. The pier location was incorrect on Mango side.

Authorities immediately halted bridge work for corrections. Meanwhile, approach road construction continued uninterrupted. Work resumed after design improvements were made. No celebration was warranted for continuation.

Roy termed the engineers’ participation highly objectionable. “MLAs naturally seek credit for development works,” he said. But officials showing partisan approach is wrong. They knew the actual project history well.

The same contractor remains on site now. Previous engineers continue overseeing the work. Moreover, the project specifications haven’t changed fundamentally. Therefore, celebration of restart lacks justification entirely.

Roy questioned the selective ceremony arrangements sharply. Officials held function at one river end. They should have celebrated at opposite end too. Will they organize event for approach road?

The MLA plans formal complaint against officials. He will raise the matter in government. His assembly committee tour concludes December 21. Afterward, he will reveal detailed project approval process.

Roy will also explain Mango flyover relevance to this project. The bridge project has strategic importance for eastern areas. It will significantly improve traffic connectivity in region.
