JAMSHEDPUR – A long-pending bridge project over the Swarnarekha River has been approved, with Chief Minister Hemant Soren set to lay the foundation stone on October 4.

Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy announced the project’s approval during a protest.

The bridge will connect Litti Chowk to Bhilai Pahadi National Highway.

Additionally, a 4 km road will be constructed as part of the project.

Meanwhile, Roy led a sit-in protest at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday.

Hundreds of workers joined him to address slow progress on development projects.

The MLA criticized Health Minister Banna Gupta and Congress leader Dr. Ajoy Kumar.

Moreover, Roy highlighted that projects worth ₹30 crore remained stalled despite allocated funds.

He accused Gupta of interfering with the formation of an Industrial City Committee.

Furthermore, Roy criticized the closure of two Tata Steel roads in Kadma.

These closures have caused significant inconvenience to local residents.

On the other hand, Roy claimed credit for pressuring Tata Steel to build a water treatment plant.

However, he noted that water supply has yet to commence despite laid pipelines.

The MLA also addressed the lack of a Municipal Corporation in Jamshedpur.

He called for merging Tata Steel UISL and JNAC to form a municipal body.

Additionally, Roy responded to Dr. Kumar’s queries about unemployment.

He accused Kumar of lacking knowledge and raising questions without proper understanding.

The protest aimed to ensure completion of stalled development projects.

Roy expressed hope that action would be taken soon to address the city’s pressing issues.

Janata Dal (U) and Bharatiya Jantantra Morcha members also attended the demonstration.
