JAMSHEDPUR – A shocking murder-suicide case surfaced in Jamshedpur after a woman police guard was killed by her lover, followed by his suicide hours later.

The incident occurred on Tuesday and triggered panic across the city. The victim was identified as Jyotika Hembram, posted at Potka police station.

According to police, Jyotika was allegedly murdered by her lover Ganesh Majhi. He reportedly slit her throat during the attack.

Nearly two hours after the killing, Ganesh Majhi died by suicide. He was found hanging, police said.

Meanwhile, before ending his life, Ganesh uploaded a video on Instagram. The video has since gone viral.

In the video, Ganesh claimed a nine-year relationship with Jyotika. He alleged betrayal by the victim.

Moreover, Ganesh allegedly levelled serious allegations against a police officer. However, police have not verified these claims. The veracity of the video and the allegations are still under investigations and are subject to police verification.

He also stated in the Alleged video that he committed the murder. He added that he was taking his own life.

Besides, Ganesh appealed for no trouble to his family members. He specifically mentioned his brother.

Police officials said the case is being investigated thoroughly. The authenticity of the viral video is under verification.

City SP Kumar Shivashish stated that conclusions will follow investigation. He urged restraint over unverified claims.

Earlier, a similar murder-suicide case had shocked Millat Nagar area.

On the other hand, police recently probed a suspicious death in Patamda involving a student.

Similarly, complex murder cases were earlier linked to a rail track killings probe in East Singhbhum.

Besides, investigators had examined foul play allegations in a Sonari suicide case earlier.

Meanwhile, Jamshedpur police also handled a political death case this year.

Police said further details will emerge after completing inquiries. The case remains under active investigation.
