RANCHI – Jharkhand paid solemn tribute to Birsa Munda today as the state stepped into its 25th year.
Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Chief Minister Hemant Soren and MLA Kalpana Soren reached Birsa Chowk early in the morning. However, the gathering had already begun swelling as people waited to witness the floral homage at the iconic statue.
The leaders placed wreaths and paused in silence. Moreover, officials said the tribute marked not only the birth anniversary of the legendary freedom fighter but also the spirit behind the state’s creation. On the other hand, local groups organised cultural performances nearby to honour the tribal icon.
The Foundation Day celebration unfolded at Morabadi Ground with a large state ceremony. However, preparations had been underway for days, with agencies arranging security and logistics. In addition, departments lined up new welfare announcements expected to be highlighted through the day.
A JMM source said, “The events mirror the state’s pride and its journey over 25 years.”
Meanwhile, the day also revived memories of earlier initiatives. These included recent expansion drives linked to university development and asset support programmes similar to the earlier distribution events. Moreover, officials referenced prior Foundation Day welfare plans that shaped this year’s preparations. Besides, conversations during the event touched on state development priorities and recent political milestones such as a key public debut that drew significant attention earlier.
