JAMSHEDPUR – A 38-year-old man identified as Ajit Pramanik of Bankada village died in a road accident on the Bhuiyansinhan–Barasusni main road in Patamda on Sunday evening around 6 p.m.
He was employed as a contract laborer at Tata Steel and was returning home after dropping a co-worker at Barabazar, West Bengal. The accident occurred when his motorcycle slipped on an under-construction stretch between Guglubani and Mukrudih villages. He lost control and fell, sustaining severe head injuries that caused heavy bleeding.
Local residents rushed to help, and family members took him to MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
According to PLV Nitai Chandra Gorai, Ajit lived in Jamshedpur for work and visited home once a week. He was on his way back after dropping a friend home for Diwali and Kali Puja when the mishap occurred.
His wife Sumitra Pramanik, sons Shivnath and Somnath, and mother Manthra Pramanik were inconsolable. Ajit was the younger of two brothers. The incident, happening on Diwali day, has cast deep sorrow across the entire village.
On Monday, JLKYM leader Debvrat Mahato and PLV Nitai Chandra Gorai visited MGM Hospital during the postmortem process. They assured the grieving family of assistance under government welfare schemes. Boadam police sub-inspector Mohammad Majid and others were also present at the postmortem house.
Ajit’s elder brother Ranjit Pramanik stated that Ajit had been working at Tata Steel for the past three months.
