JAMSHEDPUR – Two bodies were found near Tahle bridge under Garhwa Sadar police station on Saturday, creating tension across the border area with Palamu district.
The deceased were identified as Kriti Kumari, a resident of Sagalim village under Panki police station, and Sumit Kumar of Semar Tand under Chainpur police station. Police said Kriti had been stabbed, while Sumit appeared to have shot himself.
According to relatives, Kriti, who was the mother of two children, had called her family during the night and informed them that Sumit had attacked her with a knife and then turned the gun on himself. By the time family members reached the location, both had died.
The police recovered a pistol and a knife from the site. Officers said that both victims were related and their families suspected a love affair behind the incident.
SDPO officials confirmed that the bodies were found near Jangli Dhaba. They added that preliminary investigation indicated that the woman was stabbed first, after which the man used the firearm on himself. Further investigation is ongoing to establish the full sequence of events.
