JAMSHEDPUR – Dr. Nirmal Kumar, retired Medicine HOD, conducted an awareness session on anaemia prevention at GNM Nursing College, MGM Hospital.
Iron deficiency causes 50% of anaemia cases worldwide. This affects millions of people across different age groups.
Moreover, dietary habits play a crucial role. Many people lack sufficient iron-rich foods in their diet.
Prevention Strategies
Dr. Kumar emphasized dietary solutions. “Proper nutrition can prevent anaemia,” stated the medical expert.
Furthermore, young women face specific risks. Heavy menstruation and multiple pregnancies increase anaemia chances.
Meanwhile, genetic conditions require attention. Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Disease remain prevalent in eastern states.
Regional Impact
The programme addressed local health concerns. These diseases significantly affect Jharkhand’s population.
Additionally, neighboring states face similar challenges. Bengal and Odisha report numerous cases annually.
Rotary Club member Rtn Ranjeet Tak shared organizational initiatives. The event concluded with thanks from Rtn Neelam Jayaswal.
