MEDININAGAR – The 17th State-Level Senior Girls’ Kabaddi Championship concluded on Thursday at the Police Stadium in Medininagar, with Garhwa securing the title by defeating Koderma 41-17 in a spectacular final match.
Organized by the Palamu District Kabaddi Association under the supervision of the Jharkhand State Kabaddi Association, the tournament commenced on Tuesday and saw participation from 15 district teams showcasing their skills.
Garhwa Dominates the Tournament
The tournament progressed through pre-quarterfinals, quarterfinals, and semifinals, ultimately leading to the intense final showdown between Garhwa and Koderma. The Garhwa team delivered an outstanding performance, securing a dominant 24-point victory.
Players Honored for Excellence
Babita from the Garhwa team was awarded the Best Defender title, while Manisha from Koderma was named the Best Raider. The event was graced by former Mayor Aruna Shankar, along with Lavli Gupta, Gurveer Singh, and Pankaj Srivastava, who distributed prizes and encouraged the players.

Referees from different parts of the state ensured smooth execution of the matches. Key contributors to the tournament’s success included Kamalanand Dubey, Sanjay Kumar Tripathi, Pradeep Narayan, Umesh Kumar, Ravi Shankar, Sunil, and Nidhi Upadhyay.
Garhwa Continues Its Winning Streak
Notably, Garhwa had also won the 16th edition of the championship, reinforcing its dominance in state-level kabaddi. The team’s back-to-back victories highlight its consistent excellence in the sport.
