GAMHARIA – In the aftermath of the TAYO flat collapse in Gamharia, MLA Jairam Mahato visited the site to meet with the displaced families, assuring them of comprehensive support and immediate rehabilitation efforts.

The collapse of the TAYO Rolls Mill residential flat in Gamharia, Seraikela-Kharsawan district, occurred on January 27, 2025. Fortunately, the flats were vacant at the time, resulting in no casualties. Read More.

Immediate Actions Taken

Upon meeting the affected families, who have been forced to spend nights on the streets, Mahato assured them of all possible assistance. He engaged in a telephonic conversation with Tata management officials, instructing them to arrange alternative housing for the displaced families. However, the officials declined to take responsibility.

In response, Mahato contacted Seraikela Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla, urging swift action. The deputy commissioner assured that Gamharia officials had been directed to relocate the affected families to safer accommodations.

Community’s Plea for Justice

During Mahato’s visit, numerous displaced men and women narrated their plight, seeking justice and rightful housing. Listening to their concerns, he reassured them of all possible support.

Several members of the Jharkhand Democratic Revolutionary Front accompanied him, reinforcing the demand for a structured rehabilitation plan.

Call for Democratic Movement

Mahato pledged to escalate efforts to ensure that Tata and government officials address the crisis democratically. A long-term rehabilitation strategy is expected to be pursued for the displaced residents.
