JAMSHEDPUR – The district administration has appointed social worker Arun Kumar as Chief Warden of East Singhbhum Civil Defence.

SDO Shatabdi Majumdar formalized the appointment. The position was vacant for several months.

“Public safety is our priority,” a Civil Defence official stated. The unit manages emergencies and disasters.

Training Programs

The organization conducts regular public training sessions. These cover CPR, fire safety, and disaster response.

Meanwhile, over 500 volunteers serve in various capacities. They include divisional and post wardens.

Community Service

The unit assists during major festivals and events. Their work includes crowd management during Durga Puja.

Moreover, they support armed forces during emergencies. The team played a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Historical Background

Civil Defence began operations in India in 1968. It focuses on protecting internal regions during crises.

However, its role has expanded beyond war emergencies. The organization now handles various disaster situations.
