JAMSHEDPUR – The Howrah-Tatanagar Steel Express faced a stone-pelting attack near Galudih, causing damage to multiple coach windows.
The incident occurred around 9 PM on January 20, 2025. Meanwhile, the stones used in the attack came from railway track ballast.
“We are taking this vandalism very seriously,” a railway official stated. Moreover, the RPF has launched a detailed investigation.
Investigation Underway
The C-2 and D-4 coaches sustained significant damage. However, no passengers reported injuries during the incident.
On the other hand, surveillance has been increased along vulnerable sections. Furthermore, authorities are questioning train staff and witnesses.
In addition, officials are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the culprits.
Rising Security Concerns
Similar incidents have plagued the region recently. Meanwhile, the Vande Bharat Express faced an attack near Adityapur in December 2024.
The RPF has identified several vulnerable spots along the route. Moreover, local communities are being engaged in surveillance efforts.
“Security measures are being enhanced across the section,” an insider source revealed.
Preventive Measures
Railway authorities have launched awareness campaigns. Furthermore, they are installing additional security cameras along the tracks.
Meanwhile, the RPF has increased patrolling in sensitive areas. Local residents are being urged to report suspicious activities.
