JAMSHEDPUR – In a significant breakthrough in the Tony Singh murder case, police have arrested Moni Mohanty, a 31-year-old resident of Golmuri’s Refugee Colony. He was apprehended near a Shiv Temple in the NH-33 area of Ulidih after evading capture for several days. A locally made pistol and live ammunition, believed to be the weapon used in the crime, were recovered during the arrest.

The arrest follows the November 15 incident, where Tony Singh was fatally shot near Uma Tiffin in Ulidih. Another individual, Vishnu Tudu, sustained injuries in the attack. Investigations revealed that three accused—Avinash Singh, Uttam Mandal, and Nitesh Pandey—had already surrendered. However, the weapon used had remained undiscovered until now.

Police Investigation and Developments

The City Superintendent of Police stated that the department formed a special task force led by Patamda DSP and DSP Headquarters-1. The team’s efforts led to the arrest of Mohanty, who reportedly hid the weapon at the instruction of Avinash Singh. This arrest is part of an ongoing effort to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the crime.

Motive and Ongoing Investigations

According to preliminary findings, the murder stemmed from personal disputes. The police continue to search for two unidentified individuals believed to be involved. Meanwhile, Mohanty has been remanded to judicial custody.

Community Impact

The murder has raised concerns in the Mango locality, prompting increased patrolling and vigilance. Local residents have called for swift justice to restore a sense of safety in the area.
