Mango Water Project Faces Technical Issues, Principal Secretary Orders Report
Only Two of Six Water Pumps Functional at Intake Well, Three Motors Down at Treatment Plant
Key Points:
- Rs 100 crore water project fails to reach most Mango areas
- Engineers ordered to submit joint report within three days
- Department assures installation of standby motors at all stations
JAMSHEDPUR – Principal Secretary of Drinking Water Department has ordered a detailed report on Mango water supply project’s irregular operations.
MLA Saryu Ray raised critical issues at the meeting. “The Rs 100 crore project is not serving its purpose,” he emphasized.
Infrastructure Problems
Major equipment failures plague the project. Four of six intake well pumps are non-functional.
Meanwhile, the water treatment plant faces issues. Three motor pumps remain out of service.
Moreover, the Prithvi Park water tank stands unused. Baliguma area residents can’t access pipeline connections.
Financial Concerns
The operating agency awaits Rs 3.50 crore payment. This affects regular maintenance and operations.
Furthermore, tax collection continues despite service gaps. Residents pay both water and holding tax.
Corrective Measures
The department promises comprehensive solutions. Standby motors will be installed at all locations.
In addition, adequate funds exist for operations. Administrative approvals will follow the joint report.
The Principal Secretary assured immediate action. All deficiencies will be addressed within days.
