JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur chess player Souryadipta Sarkar secured an impressive 35th position at the Chennai Open International Grandmaster Chess Tournament.

The four-day event concluded at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Moreover, it showcased talents from across the chess community.

Tournament Achievement

Souryadipta earned Rs 5000 for his performance. Furthermore, he gained 54 points in his international FIDE rating.

The 10-round tournament followed strict FIDE guidelines. Meanwhile, it used the Swiss System of play.

Mentorship Support

International Master Neeraj Kumar Mishra mentors the young talent. Additionally, International Arbiter Chandan Kumar Prasad guides his development.

The player represents Chandan Chess Academy. Besides, he has shown consistent growth in competitions.

Local Recognition

ESDCA Secretary Narendra Kumar Tiwari praised the achievement. On the other hand, treasurer Jayanta Kumar Bhuyan expressed pride in the performance.

The tournament ran from January 2 to 5. Meanwhile, the chess community anticipates more successes ahead.
