SP Takes Action Against Illegal Opium Farming in West Singhbhum

CHAIBASA – Authorities in West Singhbhum have intensified their efforts to curb illegal opium farming. In a recent crackdown, more than 50 acres of opium fields have been destroyed under the leadership of the district SP.

The initiative focused on multiple areas, including key villages across Badgaon, Toklo, and Karaikela police station limits. The SP’s team acted swiftly upon receiving reports of extensive illegal cultivation.

Targeted Villages Witness Campaigns

Authorities have cleared significant land used for opium farming. Approximately two acres of illegal fields in Kita village under Badgaon police limits and 2.5 acres in Hesalkuti and Kimirda villages under Toklo jurisdiction were eradicated. Additional areas of 20 decimal lands in Kankua and Indruan under Karaikela police limits were also cleared during this campaign.

Continued Efforts to Eliminate Opium Cultivation

The crackdown highlights the district administration’s commitment to addressing the menace of illegal farming. Police have reiterated their goal of creating awareness among locals about the legal consequences of engaging in such activities. The SP expressed determination, stating, “We are resolved to completely eradicate illegal opium farming from the region.”

Collaboration with Local Communities

Authorities are also engaging local leaders to encourage compliance with the law. The campaign’s success hinges on continuous support from the communities and strict monitoring.
