Police arrest Abhishek Bhakat after complaint from minor’s father

JAMSHEDPUR – Abhishek Bhakat, a resident of Barajuri village in Galudih, was sent to jail on Monday for marrying a minor girl after her father filed a police complaint.
The incident unfolded when Bhakat allegedly brought the minor girl to his home in Barajuri on Saturday and completed marriage rites by applying sindoor (vermillion) in her hair.
Following this, the girl’s father filed a complaint on Sunday evening, leading Galudih police to register a case against Bhakat under sections 96/137 BNS, alleging he had manipulated the minor into marriage.
The police have transferred the minor girl to the Child Welfare Services (CWS) for further care while the investigation continues.
