JAMSHEDPUR – MGM Medical College and Hospital is witnessing an unprecedented rush of patients suffering from winter-related ailments amid the severe cold wave.

The emergency department has been overwhelmed with patients. “We’ve seen over 90 emergency cases by early afternoon,” said a hospital official.

Healthcare experts report a 40% increase in respiratory infections this winter compared to previous years.

Children under one year are particularly vulnerable to infections. Many are being diagnosed with pneumonia and throat infections.

Meanwhile, elderly patients are reporting increased joint pain cases. Recent studies show a 30% rise in arthritis flare-ups during winter months.

The outpatient department has registered more than 800 cases before noon. The OPD counter closes at 12 PM due to administrative protocols.

Moreover, the hospital is operating at maximum capacity. Medical statistics indicate a 50% increase in winter-related hospitalizations this season.

Doctors are treating numerous cases of asthma and diarrhea. Research shows respiratory illnesses peak during severe winter conditions.
