Raghubar Das condemns SI Sandhya Topno’s murder, demands curb on cattle smugglers

Jamshedpur: Raghubar Das, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and the National Vice President of BJP has condemned the killing of sub-inspector Sandhya Topno of Tupudana OP by alleged cattle smugglers.

He called the incident very sad and shameful and blamed the Hemant Soren government for wantonness of cattle smugglers. He also demanded effective steps to curb the activities of cattle smugglers in the state.

Mr. Das expressed apprehensions that the murder of Sandhya Topno too may remain a mystery on the lines of the the demise of Rupa Tirkey, the SI of Sahibganj, who was also found dead under mysterious circumstances.

Mr. Das said that another daughter of Jharkhand has fallen victim to the criminal gangs. He said that the cattle smugglers felt emboldened under this government’s rule.

Sandhya Topno, an SI of Tupudana OP was crushed to death while she was on duty.

According to reports, SI Sandhya was chasing a transport vehicle when she received a tip and ran after it to catch the offenders.

However, the perpetrator drove the vehicle in the opposite direction and crushed her to death on the spot.

Earlier, the SSP of Ranchi, Kishore Kaushal had said that an unidentified individual had driven a vehicle to crush the officer on the spot and that the police had arrested the offender as well as seized the vehicle.

The SSP Kishore Kaushal said that it was reported in the night that a suspicious vehicle from Tupudana OP was coming from Torpa in Khunti district.

Efforts were made to stop the said vehicle earlier also in Gumla and Khunti districts, but that vehicle did not stop.

He said that after getting the information, under the leadership of SI Sandhya Tokeno, checking was done near Hulhundu.

He said that an attempt was made to stop the vehicle, but this vehicle did not stop and also hit the patrol vehicle. Sandhya Topno was crushed and was taken to the hospital where doctors declared her dead.

The person who was driving the vehicle was arrested.

Along with this, the vehicle used in the incident has also been confiscated.

There is another accused. Raids are being conducted for his arrest.

The effort of the police is to complete the investigation in the case as soon as possible and punish the accused.

The SSP said that the accused will be punished by speedy trial.

He said that the police are investigating all angles.

At the same time, on the issue of sending a woman officer with only two people and that too without weapons, the SSP said that the matter will be investigated at the senior level.
