Tiger Search Continues For Fourth Day In Tulgram Forest

Tracking cameras deployed; villagers urged to stay alert as tiger remains elusive.

Key Points:

  • Forest department intensifies efforts with tracking cameras in Tulgram.
  • Tiger suspected of killing bull; another calf reported missing.
  • Awareness campaign launched to keep villagers safe from potential danger.

RANCHI – The forest department has intensified its search for a tiger in the Tulgram forest area, continuing efforts for the fourth consecutive day.

The search began after tiger paw prints were discovered near the Swarnarekha River on Wednesday. Tracking cameras have been installed, but they have not yet captured the tiger.

Paw Prints Found Near River

Officials confirmed finding fresh tiger paw prints along the riverbanks earlier this week. In response, tracking cameras were placed strategically in hopes of pinpointing the tiger’s location. Authorities remain optimistic that the animal is still within the forest vicinity.

Bull Killed, Calf Missing

Local villagers reported a tiger attack on Tuesday while grazing livestock. A bull was killed during the incident, and a young calf remains missing. A 12-year-old witness, Sumit Mahato, who climbed a tree during the attack, recounted the events but remains in shock.

Strategic Plan To Track Tiger

The forest department has left the remains of the bull at the spot, believing hunger will lure the tiger back. This tactic aims to aid its identification and capture. Officials are ensuring all safety measures are in place to avoid further incidents.

Awareness Campaign Underway

An awareness drive is ongoing in Tulgram and surrounding villages. Officials are using loudspeakers on vehicles to advise residents to avoid forested areas and stay vigilant.

Authorities’ Preparedness

Sanatan Ravani, a senior forest officer, revealed the deployment of tracking cameras and readiness to involve expert teams for the tiger’s capture once its location is confirmed.

Will the tiger be captured soon? The forest department’s strategies have sparked significant interest, with all eyes set on the unfolding situation.
