Jharkhand’s New Year Liquor Sales Hit Record Rs 60 Crore

RANCHI – Jharkhand witnessed unprecedented liquor sales of Rs 60 crore during the New Year celebrations from December 30-January 1.

The state capital emerged as the highest consumer. Ranchi’s sales touched Rs 5.10 crore on December 31 alone.

Moreover, East Singhbhum and Hazaribagh followed with significant contributions. Meanwhile, Jamtara recorded the lowest sales at Rs 19.65 lakh.

District Performance

Several districts showed remarkable sales figures during the festivities. Furthermore, Dhanbad and Deoghar crossed the Rs 1 crore mark.

Additionally, Bokaro and Giridih demonstrated strong consumer spending. The sales pattern revealed varying regional preferences.

Revenue Implications

The Excise Department has collected Rs 1,800 crore this fiscal year. However, officials remain confident about reaching the Rs 2,700 crore target.

Moreover, December 31 sales exceeded last year’s figures by Rs 3.50 crore. The surge indicates growing consumer confidence.

Market Trends

The three-day period showed distinct consumption patterns. Meanwhile, December 31 witnessed double the sales of December 30.

On the other hand, January 1 saw moderate sales of Rs 18-19 crore. The trend reflects typical festive season behavior.
